Bonus Curiosities

Bonuses. They appear at the end of every 1P match. They appear below your character after a Vs match. The thing is, what do you do with those scores? Do you really record them somewhere? 'Cause i looked around Misc Records on Melee and found nothing on that.

But still, some bonuses are either to good not to achieve or a bit hilarious to flip out. For example, you get a bonus for appearing in a bubble on all four sides of the screen (Lost Luggage) as well as a bonus for having a damage meter like 111% or 222% (Jackpot <= self-explanatory :P)

Super Smash Bros Melee brings in bonuses with the extra detail that whenever you achieve a bonus that is higher than another bonus you had achieved before, the former totally nullifies the latter. Take KO Artist for example. If you have more KO's than the second-place holder, you get 200x the KO's. But if you get KO Master (get twice as many KO's as the second-place holder) you get +2500. Kinda aggravating when you get 20 KO's.

But, there's a catch where you can accumulate these bonuses. You know Luigi's taunt punt? When Luigi taunts, he kicks the ground (and whatever is over the ground at the moment, say, your foes) You get Poser for posing at least 6 times in a minute. You get Poser Power for damaging someone else with the pose. You get Poser KO for KO'ing someone else with a pose (duh!) Some lucky people even get Poser Poseur for posing before another person. Careful, though: if you just punt here and there, you'll end up getting Poser and Stale Moves. Yeah, it happens to me 85% of the time.

My favorite bonuses are the End-of-the-Match bonuses like Fighter Stance (ending the match with a pose) Magnified Finish (ending the match in a bubble) Invisible Finish (ending the match while invisible) Invincible Finish (ending the match under the effects of a star)

Some bonuses are achieved by mere luck. I've got the Mew Catcher only three times on 367 Vs Matches, which is a bit unsettling because the chances of getting a Mew are roughly .4% whereas my experience tells me my chances are .8174%
(O_O)
Some people are stupid enough to waste time on Adventure Mode and get either the Lucky Number Seven (0:07) or the Lucky Threes (3:33) when the real bonuses in the 1P modes rest on the time left and coins gained. The only place I get the Lucky Number Seven in is in the Brinstar escaping stage, although not even there, man, I get the Half-Minute Man.
